Caitlin Cass makes comics, cartoons and art installations about failing systems and irrational hope. She has been a contributing cartoonist at The New Yorker since 2018.  For the past twelve years she has published a bi-monthly comic periodical called The “Great” Moments in Western Civilization Postal Constituent. Her comics have also appeared in The Lily, The Nib and Inks. Caitlin was the recipient of a NYSCA/ NYFA Artist Fellowship in Fiction (2018) and an Artworks Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (2020, with the Burchfield Penney Art Center).  She is currently finishing up her graphic novel Suffrage Song: The Haunted History of Gender, Race and Voting Rights in the U.S. due out with Fantagraphics Books in March 2024.

Caitlin earned her MFA in Visual Studies (Studio Art) from the University at Buffalo, SUNY and her BA in Liberal Arts (Great Books) from St. John’s College.  She was born in Santa Ana, CA, grew up near Chicago, spent eleven years in Buffalo, NY and now lives in Omaha, NE where she is Assistant Professor of Illustration and Time Based Media at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
