Peter Maresca has spent over 50 years collecting and research American comic strips, contributing to dozens of books and magazines in the U.S and Europe. In 1986 his wife Linnea dragged him, kicking and screaming, from New York to California, where he ended up loving it slightly more than hating it. In an attempt to make an honest living, he worked for 15 years in digital entertainment for Apple Computer, Macromedia, and AMU's GoComics, the first to bring comic strips to mobile phones. In 2005, the centennial of  "Little Nemo in Slumberland," he had his dream project—reproducing Winsor McCay's classic in it's original broadsheet size—turned down by every major publisher in the Western world. With encouragement from friends in the comics universe, he decided to publish the "unsellable" tome on his own, and Sunday Press was born. Since then the small publisher has created 20 collections of comic strips, with the work of George Herriman, E. C. Segar, Chester Gould, Rube Goldberg, Milt Gross, Ernie Bushmiller, James Swinnerton and others. Sunday Press has garnered 20 Will Eisner Award nominations, winning the award three times, along with winning two Harvey awards. In 2022, Sunday Press entered a distribution and publishing agreement with Fantagraphics, assuring more collections of classic comic strips in the coming years. After being a guest attendee at a number of NCS Reuben Awards ceremonies from 2003 to 2013, Peter became an NCA member in 2014, with the support of Patrick McDonnell, Brian Walker and R.C. Harvey.
