JA Allen was an editorial cartoonist at the Chicago Sun-Times Features Syndicate and is presently the illustrator and writer for The Beauforts comic strip. He also illustrated a portion of T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents anthology. He is the holder of a doctorate in education and has taught visual literacy and cartoon-based learning grad courses. Allen has created Decoding Asthma, a graphic novel, incorporating The Beauforts comic strip characters to promote asthma literacy for kids. A Decoding Asthma book spin-off, AER0 3000, is a soon-to-be-released game app. He is also the author of What's SSUP? Cartoon Think!
